Downers Grove Culver's and LifeSource to partner for mobile blood drive July 7

DOWNERS GROVE – To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Culver's, the Downers Grove location at 2500 W. Ogden Ave. will ask its patrons to donate blood from noon to 6 p.m. July 7 in the restaurant’s parking lot.

The drive is one of 30 LifeSource mobile blood drives planned at suburban Culver’s locations through July.

In keeping with the 30th anniversary Culver’s theme, LifeSource hopes to collect 30 pints of blood at each daily Culver’s blood drive, according to a press release.

This is the restaurant chain’s second year in promoting its “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” campaign, which last year garnered 1,000 pints of blood. Each unit can support up to three lives. According to LifeSource, summers are difficult on the Chicago region's blood supply because many of its routine donors are vacationing or are busy with family plans and often unable to schedule time to donate blood.

As part of its “Culver’s Cares” program, each participating suburban Culver’s will host a LifeSource mobile unit in its parking lot on an assigned day in July. All participating blood donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Fresh Frozen Custard.

Those interested in donating can pre-register inside their local Culver’s restaurant, or visit www.lifesource.org to see dates, times and locations of their nearest Culver’s blood drive event.

Along with hosting daily blood drives, LifeSource operates 19 community donor centers and four fixed sites with regular operating days and hours. In preparation for their donation, donors are asked to eat well, stay hydrated and arrive with proper identification.
