Franklinville Road Bridge to close Tuesday for replacement

Drivers that take Franklinville Road between Route 176 and Kunde Road will have to take another route starting Tuesday while the Franklinville Road Bridge is being removed and replaced.

Located five miles east of Marengo in unincorporated McHenry County, the bridge, built in 1954, will be demolished and removed throughout July, according to a news release from the McHenry County Division of Transportation.

The affected area of Franklinville Road will be closed to through traffic from Tuesday, July 8 through approximately Tuesday, Sept. 30, the press release states.

Local traffic will have access up to the bridge, and through traffic will be detoured via Hobe Road, Kishwaukee Valley Road, Vermont Road, Garden Valley Road, Millstream Road, and Route 176.

According to the release, the new bridge will be widened to accommodate two 8-foot-wide shoulders.
