Jim Thome featured at Silver Slugger Camp
The Bulls/Sox Academy will host a pair of Silver Slugger camps that will feature instruction from former White Sox standout Jim Thome.
The four-day camps will take place at Lisle Community Park from July 21 to 24 and at Ackerman Park in Glen Ellyn from August 18 to 21. The camps are for players ages 8 to 12 and the cost for each is $275.
Thome will be on hand for the Wednesday of each camp to provide hitting instruction. Campers can also have their picture taken with Thome and have an item autographed.
Additionally, each camp participant receives two tickets to a White Sox home game (July 22 or August 18), an opportunity to watch White Sox batting practice at the game, six ticket vouchers to a 2014 White Sox game, a replica jersey, a Jim Thome White Sox t-shirt, a Bulls/Sox ball cap and an official Major League baseball.

Chicago Bears youth camps coming to area
Non-contact football camps run by the Chicago Bears and led by professional coaches will make stops in the suburbs later this month.
The five-day camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are for kids ages 6 to 14. There will be comprehensive skills camps for kids ages 6 to 14 and accelerated skills camps for kids ages 9 to 14.
The camps cost $399 with a $95 deposit required.

College basketball players to run area camps
Walker Athletics in Lisle will be the site of two one-day basketball camps run by current college basketball players.
The Players Camp, started by former Illinois standout Sean Harrington, will bring University of Illinois players Tracy Abrams, Malcolm Hill, Maverick Morgan, Kendrick Nunn, Ray Rice and Ahmad Starks to Walker Athletics from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 12.
Lisle native Frank Kaminsky and his University of Wisconsin teammates Riley Dearring, Sam Dekker, Duje Dukan, Nigel Hayes, Jordan Hill, Bronson Koenig, Aaron Moesch and Zak Showalter will run the camp from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 13.

Trevino, McCord to attend Benedictine U. golf outing
Golf Legend Lee Trevino and CBS Sports analyst Gary McCord are the marquee names that will participate in the 20th Annual President's Invitational Golf Outing hosted by Benedictine University on July 28 at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton.
The event provides an opportunity to rub elbows with some of golf’s greatest and play a championship course – all while contributing to a good cause. Proceeds from the event help provide scholarships for Benedictine students.
The cost for golf and the program is $300 per person or $1,200 per foursome. The event begins with breakfast at 8 a.m. Golf begins at 10 a.m. sharp. Cocktails and photos are at 4 p.m., followed by a program at 6 p.m. in which McCord will interview Trevino.

Ron Kittle, Cubs’ mascot Clark part of lawn party
Former White Sox slugger Ron Kittle and Cubs' mascot Clark will be part of the Root for the Home Team Lawn Party hosted by the Elmhurst Historical Museum on July 20.
The free event is scheduled to take place on the Museum grounds from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine.
Baseball fans of all ages are welcome to the Museum grounds for free ice cream, snacks, baseball-themed games, and a drawing for White Sox tickets. Tours of the Sox vs. Cubs: The Chicago Civil Wars exhibit at the Museum will take place. Youth baseball players are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
