McHENRY – Campaign finance reform, infrastructure repair, corporate tax breaks and charter schools are some of the issues being raised at a series of town hall forums hosted by congressional candidate Dennis Anderson.
Another town hall forum hosted by Anderson, a Democrat running for Congress in Illinois' 14th District, will take place 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the McHenry Public Library, 809 Front St.
Illinois' 14th Congressional District includes most of McHenry County, running north from Crystal Lake Avenue in Crystal Lake and west of Lake in the Hills, as well as parts of six other counties. The district is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, who is running for a third two-year term.
“After six town halls, I am convinced more than ever that voters want to know that their congressional representatives are accountable to them … not to big banks and lobbyists,” Anderson said in a news release. “Most of the Republicans I know and have known want the same things as the Democrats I know and have known.
Anderson’s town hall tour will extend throughout the campaign season. Upcoming town hall tour stops include Elburn, Gurnee, Plainfield, Yorkville, Hampshire and Huntley.
