Parish Administrator Mike Ryan provides oversight of all campus facilities. His goal is to provide the best facilities for the students and all of Saint Mary of Gostyn’s parishioners.
Question: Many projects were completed in the 2013-14 school year. What do you think was the more important and why? Answer: The most important project for the school was the removal of old worn carpet and installation of tile in all school classrooms and the installation of new carpeting in the school offices, hallways, kindergarten and preschool.
Question: How did you choose the projects for the upcoming year? Answer: The Buildings and Grounds Committee conducts an annual review of the campus and a priority list is created. This year, the most pressing need was the installation of energy efficient windows replacing the original windows in the 60-year-old school building.
Question: Why is it so important to continue expanding and improving the campus? Answer: It is imperative that we maintain our facilities to the best of our ability. Our legacy of serving our Parish and community for over 120 years requires us to provide facilities that allow our ministries to function to the best of their abilities.
Question: Expansion and improvements are expensive. How are they being funded? Answer: They are funded through good planning with our Parish Finance & Administration Commission, our stewardship from Parishioners and taking advantage of low interest rates on loans.
Question: Can you speak about the property purchase adjacent to the school? Answer: We anticipate the purchase to be completed in the fall. The purchase is part of our overall Facility Strategic Plan.
Question: Anything else you would like to add? Answer: We will soon embark on creating conceptual drawings to address our Facility Strategic Plan recommendations.
