Riverside police to "ticket" kids for good deeds this summer to earn a cold treat

Published: Friday, June 27, 2014 7:50 a.m. CDT

RIVERSIDE – Getting a ticket is not always a bad thing – if the citation comes with a Slurpee.

Through the Riverside Police Department's Operation Chill program, children caught doing good this summer may be issued a "ticket" from participating police and sheriff's departments to receive a free Slurpee from participating 7-Eleven stores.

Coupons may be issued for good acts that include anything from deterring crime, to wearing a bicycle helmet.

Each coupon can be redeemed for a small Slurpee.
