LISLE – Benet Academy student Stephen J. Hubona has received a college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship, according to a news release from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

He has earned the National Merit Loyola University Chicago Scholarship.

Hubona is one of about 2,500 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. These awards provide students with $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

About 8,000 high school seniors will receive National Merit Scholarships for college undergraduate study. Their combined total is worth more than $35 million.
