High schools are in the midst of summer break and the recently graduated senior class is preparing for college. Some District 88 graduates already in college participated in spring sports and racked up some notable accomplishments. Here's a look at what spring 2014 brought for local products.

Ryan helps NCC softball win regional

It was a big season for North Central softball. The Cardinals won a regional title and hosted a super regional, although NCC lost two out of three to the University of St. Thomas. Taylor Ryan, a Willowbrook grad, started every game for the Cardinals. The senior second baseman hit .271.

AT grad Mueller earns spot in rotation

Cody Mueller, a junior pitcher at Dominican University, finished his second year in the starting rotation for the Stars. The Addison Trail graduate finished this season with a 4.52 ERA in nine starts and three relief appearances, all of which resulted in saves. Mueller had two complete games and was second on the team with 63 2/3 innings pitched.

Cox's streak continues for Concordia

Steve Cox (Willowbrook) finished his Concordia Cougars' career without giving up an earned run in his final two seasons. As a junior, Cox had 16 innings on the mound and only allowed an unearned run. This season Cox racked up nine saves in 22 2/3 innings and gave up just three runs, all unearned. Opponents hit just .180 against Cox this spring. The Cougars won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament.

Dougherty digs for MSoE

Defensive specialist Josh Dougherty had 102 digs for Milwaukee School of Engineering volleyball this spring as a sophomore. Dougherty, who will be joined by former Willowbrook teammate Ben Wozniak next season, was second on the team in digs and played in 22 of 23 matches.

Buchanan part of memorable Webster season

Brett Buchanan (Willowbrook) helped Webster University to a No. 1 ranking in the D3baseball.com top-25 at the end of the regular season. The Gorloks went undefeated in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference during the regular season and won the conference tournament, but lost their first two playoff games to exit the postseason earlier than expected.

Buchanan made 13 appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 3.57 ERA and tallying two saves and two victories. He also hit .256 at the plate in 39 at-bats.

Krawczykowski jumping for NIU

In her first year at Northern Illinois, Colleen Krawczykowski participated in three outdoor track meets for the Huskies. The former three-sport star at Willowbrook competed in triple jump and long jump. In the indoor season she was 24th at the MAC Championships in the triple jump.

Pelsor produces both ways at Carthage

Willowbrook grad Darian Pelsor had a standout freshman season with Carthage College softball. She hit .371 at the plate, second best on the team, and had a 3.39 ERA in the circle.
