Glenbard East graduate Joey Farrell saw playing time as a freshman outside hitter for Penn State mens volleyball, which made the Final Four this spring.

High schools are in the midst of summer break and the recently graduated senior class is preparing for college. Some Glenbard East products already in college participated in spring sports and racked up some notable accomplishments. Here's a look at what the spring brought for some former Rams.

Farrell helps Penn State volleyball make Final Four

Penn State volleyball made the Final Four this season and Glenbard East graduate Joey Farrell was a part of the squad. Farrell, a freshman outside hitter, played in 14 of 31 matches and totaled 11 kills in 32 sets played. The future appears bright for the Nittany Lions, who had just one senior on the roster.

Vichio debuts for SLU baseball

After a memorable Glenbard East career, Nick Vichio got his first taste of college baseball out of the bullpen at St. Louis University. The right-hander made nine relief appearances and picked up one win. He had a 5.40 ERA with four strikeouts, four walks and 19 hits allowed in 13 1/3 innings. The Billikens won the regular season title in the Atlantic 10.

Plimmer slugs for Kankakee CC

Another Class of 2013 Glenbard East grad, Brittany Plimmer, had a positive season on the college softball diamond. Plimmer, a catcher and outfielder for Kankakee Community College, put up big time offensive numbers. She hit .363 with nine home runs and a monstrous .637 slugging percentage in 51 games.

Two-way star Walsh carries Loras

Patrick Walsh saw playing time as a pitcher and hitter during his freshman season at Loras College in 2013, but this year he truly broke out. Walsh led the team in batting average (.356), RBIs (29) and total bases (63), and started all 42 games. As a pitcher, Walsh made eight starts and picked up a team-best four wins. He had a pair of shutouts, a 4.05 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings for the Duhawks.

Little closes Beloit career

Sean Little, a senior third baseman at Beloit College, hit .242 with four RBIs and 13 runs scored for the Buccaneers. In his four-year career, Little totaled 85 hits with 49 RBIs and 58 runs scored in 120 games.
