Vehicle struck by train at Lincoln Crossing in Hinsdale, no injuries reported

HINSDALE – An unoccupied 2004 Nissan Murano was struck by an outbound commuter train at the Lincoln Crossing and the Burlington North Railroad at about 7:22 a.m. Monday, according to the Hinsdale Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old female resident of Burbank, had been driving southbound on Lincoln Street approaching the grade crossing, according to a news release from the Hinsdale Police Department.

The warning devices at the crossing were activated, at which time the driver disobeyed the signals by stopping beyond the gate stop line. The driver then exited the vehicle to avoid being injured in the collision, the release stated.

The incident is currently under investigation.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and no injuries have been reported as a result of this incident.
