Train strikes bridge in Cicero, causes long delays along line

CICERO – A freight train struck a bridge near Cicero Avenue and 26th Street at about 5 a.m. Monday.

The incident caused long delays for commuters on the BNSF Metra Line, according to news reports. Service was stopped along the entire line for one hour, before trains were allowed to operate again along a single track.

A train also struck a car in Hinsdale Monday morning, causing further delays, according to media reports.
