No injuries in Penny Road Pub fire

BARRINGTON – The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire at Penny Road Pub, 545 Penny Road, in Barrington, Saturday evening.

According to a news release, the call came in about 6:56 p.m. as crews were notified by dispatch that there was a fire in the basement stage area of the pub. Residents were being evacuated while firefighters were in route.

Fire crews, including Buffalo Grove, Cary, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Hoffman Estates, Long Grove, Lake Zurich and the Palatine Rural Fire Department, arrived on the scene.

Crews found that a cloth draped behind the stage had caught fire. There was smoke in the basement and on the first floor of the pub. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage, the release states.

No injuries were reported from occupants or staff. The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
