BOLINGBROOK – Police say a wallet led them to identify a Chicago man who allegedly mugged a teenager last month.

At about 5:30 p.m. May 26 police were called to the 200 block of Northridge Avenue where a 19-year-old man said he’d been robbed by two men, according to Lt. Mike Rompa.

“One of the subjects struck the victim over his head as the other rifled through his pockets and removed his wallet, cellphone and a small amount of cannabis,” Rompa said.

On June 4, University of Chicago police contacted Bolingbrook police after the victim’s wallet was found inside a car during a separate investigation. Rompa said the wallet led investigators to Richard Ofosuhene, 19, of the 3500 block of South Lake Park Avenue, who was identified by the victim as one of his attackers.

Police obtained a warrant charging Ofosuhene with robbery and aggravated battery. Ofosuhene was transferred Wednesday from Cook County Jail to the Will County Jail where he is being held on $80,000 bond.
