LA GRANGE PARK – The La Grange Park Police Department Crime Prevention Unit and the village's fire department recently announced the 2014 National Night Out will be held in August.

The festivities, beginning at 7 p.m. Aug. 5, will feature entertainment, drinks and food at Memorial Park, 132 Oak Ave.

While the event isn't until August, the police department is currently searching for volunteers to help with the event. Residents interested in volunteering should contact the village at 708-352-7711 or email jvieceli@lagrangepark.org.

National Night Out is a partnership between police departments and residents aimed at educating the public about crime and bringing communities coming together to prevent crime in a show of support and camaraderie.

An informational meeting will be at 7 p.m. July 31 for volunteers in the Village Hall Community Room, 447 N. Catherine Ave.
