The future is now at Edward Hospital

NAPERVILLE – Edward Hospital housekeeping staff member Ruth Zermeno prepares a Xenex disinfecting robot for use in a pediatric patient room.

The robots, nicknamed Snap, Crackle and Pop by hospital employees, kill deadly bacteria and superbugs, including the MERS virus, with pulsing ultraviolet C light. They are used in patient rooms, operating rooms and support areas. Cleanings typically take 10 to 15 minutes.
