Meet the East DuPage all-area softball team

Here are Suburban Life Media's 2014 selections

The Class 3A and 4A state title games in softball took place on Saturday so it's time to look back on the star players of the spring season. There were plenty of sensational performances from local players this season, but here are the top players from locals schools in the 2014 softball all-area team.

Cristina Barrett

School: Montini

Year: Senior

Impact: The senior bound for Western Illinois hit .397 with 30 RBIs and a team-high 11 doubles while playing shortstop. Barrett was also 10-for-10 in stolen bases.

Jessica Conenna

School: IC Catholic

Year: Junior

Impact: The Northern Illinois recruit performed like a Division I player this season. She hit .570 and led the team with 37 RBIs. In the circle she had 198 strikeouts and a 2.23 ERA.

Gabby Curran

School: IC Catholic

Year: Junior

Impact: The Knights' junior hit .496 with 20 extra base hits and 36 RBIs. Impressively she had 14 walks while striking out just three times in 138 plate appearances.

Zoe Dannenberg

School: Willowbrook

Year: Sophomore

Impact: Dannenberg, an all-conference player, was a key addition after transferring from Montini. In addition to pitching duties, she hit .453 with 13 extra base hits and scored 40 runs.

Emily Lezcano

School: Montini

Year: Sophomore

Impact: The sophomore led the powerful Montini lineup with 11 home runs and had 22 extra base hits. She also hit .384 and topped the team with 41 RBIs and 36 runs scored.

Crystal Marinelli

School: Addison Trail

Year: Senior

Impact: Marinelli was AT's top pitcher, but truly shined at the plate where she hit .454 with a team-high 42 runs scored. She was also all-conference in the West Suburban Gold.

Sarah Milkowski

School: York

Year: Junior

Impact: The all-conference catcher has become one of the leaders of York's mostly young roster. She hit an even .500 and clubbed 15 doubles.

Alyssa Ressinger

School: Willowbrook

Year: Junior

Impact: The junior first baseman hit .484 with eight home runs and 22 extra base hits in total. She had 39 RBIs and 36 runs scored and was all-conference in the West Suburban Gold.

Angela Scalzitti

School: York

Year: Senior

Impact: The slap-hitting centerfielder finished her York career as one of the best players to ever come out of the program. The DePaul recruit hit .532 with 29 stolen bases and 50 runs.

Alyssa Sclafani

School: Montini

Year: Sophomore

Impact: In addition to playing the crucial position of catcher, Sclafani brings a big bat to the Montini lineup. She hit .379 with six home runs and 38 RBIs.

Sam Schmidt

School: Willowbrook

Year: Junior

Impact: The all-area MVP put up monster numbers at the plate as well as playing a solid shortstop. The Northern Illinois commit hit .593 with 16 home runs, 50 RBIs and 54 runs scored.

Abby Solem

School: York

Year: Sophomore

Impact: The third baseman hit .397 with a whopping 51 RBIs and 10 home runs. Solem was also all-conference for the Dukes.

Lauren Trojnar

School: Montini

Year: Junior

Impact: Montini's two-way star led the team in batting average (.422) and she scored 32 runs. As a pitcher Trojnar had 20 wins and a 2.22 ERA.

IC Catholic: Anjella Farmer, Melissa Gonzalez

Willowbrook: Erin Sporer

York: Audrey Kosman, Lauren Lahey, Gabby Magnifico
