WOODSTOCK – A 78-year-old Fox River Grove man admitted Monday to allegations that he fondled two young girls.
Arthur J. McGhee pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Prosecutors said the victims were two female family members.
The sexual abuse incidents happened in 2005 and 2007 and the girls were under 13 at the time of the offenses, Assistant State’s Attorney Robert Zalud said. The girls reported the abuse to officials at their school, he said.
McGhee entered a blind plea, meaning there was no agreement on a possible sentence between the prosecutor and McGhee’s attorney, Public Defender Angelo Mourelatos.
A sentencing date was set for Aug. 8. Each charge is a Class 2 felony, punishable by between three to seven years in prison, followed by two years of parole. Any sentence the judge imposes will be served consecutively.
As part of the plea deal, nine remaining sexual abuse charges were dropped. The plea deal was accepted by McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather.
McGhee has been in custody at the McHenry County Jail since June 20, 2013.
