Sources say Huntley AD to take Barrington volleyball job

Huntley athletic director Michelle Jakubowski will be named Barrington’s new girls volleyball coach, according to sources in Huntley's School District 158.

Jakubowski declined comment in a text message, but her position is advertised on the website k12jobspot.com as “Anticipated High School Athletic Director.” Jakubowski has held that position for the last two years and coached volleyball for the Red Raiders in the six years previous to that.

Before becoming AD, Jakubowski taught math at Huntley. Her Huntley teams were 149-75 in six seasons and won three Class 4A regional titles. Prior to Huntley, she coached at Lake Zurich (2000-02) and Winnebago (1994-99). She has more than 300 career victories.

During her time as coach, Jakubowski worked as assistant athletic director under former AD Bruce Blumer. She then took over as AD when Blumer retired after the 2011-12 school year.

Jakubowski, who played college volleyball at NCAA Division I Northeastern Illinois University, will be replacing Rob Ridenour.
