Addison students win scholarships

ADDISON – A pair of Addison students received District 88 Art Scholarships for 2014.

Addison Trail High School junior Cheyenne Lam and senior Aime Zuniga earned a $250 scholarship from the District 88 Board of Education.

Willowbrook High School senior Kathrene Garcia and sophomore Laima Licitis also received scholarships.

The students’ artwork will be displayed in the District 88 boardroom for one year.

Another Addison Trail senior earned the David Koch Board of Education Scholarship for 2014.

Abby Meinen received a $1,500 scholarship from the District 88 Board of Education. Since spring 1984, the David Koch Board of Education Scholarship has been given in honor of former District 88 Superintendent Dr. David Koch.

Scholarship recipients are chosen from the 18 students named as 88’s Best each school year.

The District 88 Board of Education and administration created the 88’s Best award to highlight students’ success.

That award recognizes nine Addison Trail and nine Willowbrook High School students each school year for reaching their personal best in various areas, including academics, highly improved performance, extracurricular activities, service work and performing arts or electives.
