Wheaton Academy helps Cantigny visitors remember D-Day

WEST CHICAGO – Visitors to Cantigny Park in Wheaton view a diorama June 7 that recreated D-Day, made by students and staff from Wheaton Academy in West Chicago.

The project led by U.S. Military History teacher Josh Burick and his class at first set out to create a model that depicted only part of the Omaha Beach invasion during World War II. However, the diorama turned into a larger group effort to present Omaha Beach in its entirety.

The model was on display June 7 and 8 at Cantigny's First Division Museum as part of the park’s activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day and honor surviving WWII veterans.
