Stephanie Zdunek, of Midwest Disc Dogs Club, and her border collie, Jinx, show off their skills June 1 at the Hinsdale Humane Society Pet Walk.

Thumbs up to Hinsdale Humane Society for celebrating its 25th annual Pet Walk on June 1 at Katherine Legge Memorial Park. More than 500 people and several hundred pets attended the event, which has matured into the Hinsdale Humane Society's largest fundraiser of the year. While donations are still trickling in, the organization expects it will amass nearly $50,000 in donations.

Thumbs up and congratulations to the Darien Park District for kicking off its 40th anniversary celebration. To commemorate the milestone, the park district is incorporating 40 special events to the summer lineup and activity schedule. For the first time ever, the Darien Park District will also host a weekly farmers market, which began Wednesday at Darien Community Park.
