ELMHURST – A doctor from Elmhurst will travel to Brazil this month to provide medical care for the U.S. Men's National Team during the 2014 World Cup.

Sports medicine physician Dr. Nathaniel Jones of Loyola University Medical Center will provide medical care to more than 150 friends, family members and staff members associated with the men’s soccer team. He also will assist in caring for the players, as needed, stated a news release.

Jones will fly with the team to Brazil on Friday, and will stay in Brazil for as long as the team remains in the tournament. Jones grew up in Recife, Brazil, where the U.S. will play Germany on June 26. His mother is Brazilian, and he is fluent in Portuguese, according to the release.

In 2012, Jones also was a team physician for the U.S. men’s under-20 soccer team, the release stated.
