HINSDALE – After a winter in which "polar vortex" became a household phrase, many local residents could not wait to trade their parkas for tank tops and greet warmer weather with open arms.

While the first day of summer is June 21, several seasonal activities are already in full swing. Here are the top-6 summer fests in the area.

1.) Uniquely Thursdays

• What: Free concerts in the park on Thursdays

• Where: Burlington Park, 30 E. Chicago Ave., Hinsdale

• When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., now through Aug. 14

2.) Dancin' in the Street

• What: Summer concert series

• Where: Downtown Clarendon Hills along Prospect Avenue

• When: 6:30 p.m. June 18 and each successive Wednesday through July 23.

3.) Concerts on the Green series

• What: Summer concert series

• Where: Burr Ridge Village Center at County Line Road and Burr Ridge Parkway

• When: 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays, now through Aug. 29

4.) Taste of Oak Brook

• What: Music, food from Oak Brook area restaurants, children's activities and fireworks.

• Where: Oak Brook Sports Core, 800 Oak Brook Road.

5.) Vehicle Fair

• What: The Willowbrook Parks and Recreation Department's seventh annual Vehicle Fair will feature unique vehicles, including a concrete mixer, fire truck and military vehicle.
