Caliva, Glenbard North headed to supersectional after comeback win

BARTLETT - For the past two seasons, the Glenbard North softball team has felt the heartbreak of falling one run short in the sectional final.

This time around, the Panthers turned the tables.

Overcoming an early 4-0 deficit Saturday, Alex Caliva's doubled in Steph Campos with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in Glenbard North's 6-5 win over Conant in the Bartlett Class 4A sectional final.

Caliva also produced a home run which got the Panthers on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning and the home team tacked on two more runs in the frame.

Caliva's sacrifice fly and an RBI-single by Heather Sperlazzo gave Glenbard North a 5-4 lead in the fifth but Conant tied it in the sixth before Panthers' pitcher Cece Dopart got out of a bases loaded jam.

Glenbard North will play Oak Park on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Rosemont Stadium.
