Published: Friday, June 6, 2014 9:19 a.m. CDT

McHENRY – A memorial to honor the four McHenry High School graduates who died during the Vietnam War will be the beneficiary of an upcoming golf outing.

The fundraiser, which is sponsored by the McHenry Veterans of Foreign Wars post, is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 16, at the Boone Creek Golf Club in Bull Valley.

The cost is $100 per person and includes 18 holes of golf with a golf cart, free use of the driving range, bag drop, a box lunch and a steak-fry dinner. The dinner can be attended without golfing for $25 a person.

The memorial has received the go-ahead from the McHenry City Council to be placed in Veterans Memorial Park and is being planned by the McHenry High School class of 1964.

It will honor each of the McHenry High School graduates – Marine Corps Cpl. Glenn Davis, Army Pfc. James Ambrose and Army Cpl. Carter Freund of the 1964 class and Army Cpl. John Granath of the 1967 class – killed in action, according to the plans submitted to the city.
