To the Editor:
We are writing to let you know of some exciting changes to the Riverside Little League season this year. The changes are the result of a joint effort between the Riverside Parks and Recreation Department, Riverside Board of Trustees and the Riverside Little League Board, and will enhance the experience of both players and their families.
Two main concerns that both organizations have struggled with over the years, have been coaches requesting to perform routine maintenance on the fields, and miscommunication regarding field conditions. The Parks and Recreation Department took this opportunity to approach the Little League Board with a field maintenance agreement which would address both of those issues. After working together to draft the agreement, the result is that the Parks and Recreation Department of the village of Riverside has turned over day-to-day maintenance of the ball fields and the calling of games to the Riverside Little League for the baseball season.
Both organizations are excited to undertake this new, one-season trial arrangement. We ask that you please be patient and understanding as both organizations move forward. Once the season is completed, we will re-evaluate how well this agreement worked.
Should you have any questions or concerns, you can feel free to contact Riverside Little League, or the Parks and Recreation Department. We look forward to a wonderful season and thank you in advance for your support!
