BOLINGBROOK – A Chicago man has been arrested for allegedly trying to arrange sex with a teenage girl.

Lt. Mike Rompa said Travas V. Peebles, 22, of the 4800 block of West Iowa Street, approached the girl March 19 in a parking lot in the 300 block of Woodcreek Drive and later contacted her online.

Detectives were able to identify Peebles and made contact where he believed he would “meet with a juvenile for the purpose of sexual relations,” Rompa said.

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Peebles arrived at a business near Schmidt Road and Lily Cache Lane and was arrested. His 1993 GMC van was seized and he was booked into the county jail on charges of indecent solicitation of a minor, cyberstalking, juvenile prostitution, grooming a minor for sexual purposes and traveling to meet a minor for sexual purposes. He is being held in the Will County jail on $100,000 bond.

In an unrelated case, Steven G. Brooks, 35, was arrested by Bolingbrook police Friday on five counts of possession of child pornography.

Rompa said Brooks was the subject of an investigation into online child pornography by the Will County Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.

Brooks, of the 200 block of North Vincent Drive, was released Saturday afternoon after posting $50,000 bond, according to jail records.
