Ella DiGregorio, 17, sews one of her patterns May 20 at her Elmhurst home. DiGregorio is preparing for a national competition in July after winning a gold medal at the state level.

THUMBS UP: A 17-year-old York High School student blended technology and fashion to design a line of formal dresses that convert into shorter dresses for dancing with the touch of a button. Ella DiGregorio of Elmhurst won gold at a state leadership conference and is preparing to compete at the national conference in July in San Antonio. Congratulations and good luck in Texas.

THUMBS UP: It's always good to see local students enjoying academic success. Congratulations to Matthew Bindeman, who was recently awarded with a National Merit Scholarship, sponsored by Texas A&M University.
