Softball roundup: St. Francis falls in sectional semifinal

The St. Francis softball team lost 11-1 in five innings against rival Montini in a Glenbard South Class 3A sectional semifinal game on Tuesday.

Ali Dittrich accounted for the lone run with a homer.

The Spartans had captured the championship at the regional it hosted with a wild 11-10 victory over Evergreen Park on Saturday.

Wheaton Warrenville South

The Tigers fell 9-0 against host Neuqua Valley in a Class 4A regional semifinal on May 28. WWS was held to two hits in the loss.

Wheaton North

The Falcons dropped a 7-2 decision against Glenbard North at the Class 4A Rolling Meadows Class regional on May 28 in a semifinal game that was started a day earlier.

Wheaton Academy

An 8-1 loss against Rosary in a Lemont Class 3A regional semifinal ended the 2014 season for the Warriors.

Wheaton Academy took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, with Marissa Gagliano scoring her team's lone run. But Rosary answered with five runs in the second frame.

The squad was held to two hits with Hannah Bolds contributing a double and Megan Herring adding a single.
