SUGAR GROVE – Residents can expect Sugar Grove's first Dunkin' Donuts by early next year, Village President Sean Michels said.
Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Raj Patel plans to open a Dunkin' Donuts location in a forthcoming multitenant building in Sugar Grove, said Walter Magdziarz, the village's community development director. The building will be on an outlot west of the Sugar Grove Jewel between the local Chase Bank and Phillips 66 gas station.
"It’ll be a good addition to the village," Michels said on Tuesday. "It’s one of the things that residents have requested the most out of anything – a good coffee shop."
The proposed Dunkin' Donuts will occupy 1,400 square feet of the 6,000-square-foot building. The business will contain a soft-seating model that would encourage patrons to bring their laptops and other electronics, Michels said.
The only other Dunkin' Donuts with that model in the area is in Glenview, Michels said.
The future building will be able to accommodate Dunkin' Donuts and three other tenants, Magdziarz said. The developer hopes to get at least one tenant signed up before beginning construction on the building.
Magdziarz said the developer will submit paperwork to the city once it refines its plans. The Dunkin' Donuts would open before December or after January because the company does not open stores during those months, Michels said.
Additional Dunkin' Donuts locations in development include Elburn and St. Charles.
