Sen. Cullerton, state Senate vote to broaded heroin task force

VILLA PARK – Backed by State Sen. Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park), the Illinois Senate Wednesday passed a plan to expand the scope of a task force that studies the use and impact of heroin among teens and young adults.

The plan, House Bill 4542, unanimously passed in the Senate. In April, it passed the House, and it will now go to the Gov. Pat Quinn's desk for approval. The plan would expand the Young Adults Heroin Use Task Force study to include teens in sixth grade through high school.

Currently, the task force only focuses on high school students. The task force was created last year to study the impact of heroin on teens in high schools.
