Elmhurst Artists' Guild to host new exhibit reception

ELMHURST – The public is invited to a new exhibit reception by the Elmhurst Artists' Guild on Friday at the Elmhurst Art Museum.

"Triplicity," features collaborative works by Wes Baker of Elmhurst, Peter Steeves of Valparaiso, and Randal Stringer of Glen Ellyn. Each member of the trio began paintings, then passed them on to each other. Each artist added to the others' work, sometimes passing the painting around for multiple rounds, and other times the trio agreed it was complete after just two artists made their contributions.

The exhibition includes samples of each artist's individual work, so visitors can see how they influenced each other. Each of their styles vary. Baker is a representational abstract painter, Steeves is a surrealistic painter and Stringer describes his style as "tradigitalism," because he blends traditional art techniques with digital applications.

The reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Ave. The exhibit will be on display through July 3.

Most of the items entered into the show are for sale, and a portion of the proceeds benefits the guild and the Elmhurst Art Museum. More information is available at www.elmhurstartistsguild.org.
