BERWYN – One of three men apprehended for an armed robbery in Chicago and police chase that ended in Berwyn on Wednesday evening may be connected to the armed robbery of a Radio Shack store in Berwyn that occurred at 12:41 p.m. on Friday.
Police said a man walked into a Radio Shack in the 6900 block of Ogden Avenue and brandished a handgun in front of a clerk, demanding all the money in the register. The clerk handed over an undetermined amount of cash to the gunman, who then fled out a back door with the cash and four computer tablets.
The clerk and two customers in the store at the time of the robbery were unharmed, police said.
On Wednesday, Chicago police were in pursuit of three men in a car on Ogden Avenue and eventually caught up with the vehicle in the 6900 block of Stanley Avenue, where the three suspects bailed out and attempted to escape on foot. They were captured by Chicago police with assistance from Berwyn.
"We are looking at the possibility that one of the offenders may have been involved in the robbery of the Radio Shack in Berwyn on May 9," Berwyn Police Cmdr. Tom O'Halloran said. "At this point we believe he's going to be charged but we don't have confirmation on that as of yet."
