Advocate Good Shepherd honors local nurses

BARRINGTON – Three McHenry County residents were honored by Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital as part of its 2014 Nurse of the Year awards.

In total seven nurses at the hospital were honored for their leadership, skill and compassion in areas including education, leadership and volunteerism, according to a news release.

Lindsay Olivia, of Crystal Lake, received the Nurse of the Year Advanced Beginner award for making a seamless transition from student to graduate nurse.

Lisa Moran, of Lake in the Hills, received the Nurse of the Year Education Award for facilitating a pacemaker project by researching the current evidence-based practice and assisting her peers in learning the process, the hospital said.

Penny Gainer, of Cary, received the Nurse of the Year Leadership Award for making her patients feel safe and comfortable because she passionately cares about her patients' well-being, the hospital said.

Also honored were Eleanor Martinez, of Carpentersville, Cheryl Perry, of Hanover Park, Kristen Clack of Round Lake, and Jane Witkowski of North Barrington.
