WOODRIDGE – A draft of the plan to overhaul the Woodridge Town Centre will be presented during a community meeting May 22.
Formalized by consultants who gathered community input during an open house in March, the draft plan will shared with the community during a joint workshop by the Woodridge Village Board and the Woodridge Park District Board at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 22 in the Werch Board Room, Five Plaza Drive, Woodridge.
Community members previewed potential Town Centre features during the open house in March, including outdoor amenities such as an amphitheater, sledding hill, a wedding arbor and athletic fields, while preserving the property's open spaces.
The Town Centre area is located near Woodridge and Center drives and includes the following existing facilities: Village Hall, Woodridge Library, the police/public works facility, the park district's Community Center, the local U.S. Post Office, Jefferson Junior High School, Hawthorne Hill Woods, Memorial Park, Lake Carleton, Lake Harriet and 44 acres of open space jointly owned by the village and park district.
The meeting May 22 is also expected to address how the village and park district intend to fund the proposed projects.
A copy of the draft plan that will be discussed May 22 has been posted online and can be viewed at shawurl.com/15xd.
