Prep roundup: Rams baseball takes two against Naperville North

After taking two of three games against Naperville North over the weekend, Glenbard East's beat Lake Park 3-2 in the series opener Wednesday.

Pitchers Tyler Behrendt and Scott Borosak combined for a 4-0 shutout against the Huskies on Saturday.


Addison Trail

The Blazers swept Proviso East last weekend. Joe Kurucar totaled seven hits for the series. Christian Grabowski and Nate Mueller each had five in the three games.


The Warriors were swept by Hinsdale South last weekend, scoring just four runs in the three-game series.

Jake Cady gave up just two runs in a complete game 2-0 loss on Saturday, which was the score of both games of the doubleheader.

Mike Rothmund was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run in Monday's 6-4 loss.


Glenbard East

The Rams split a doubleheader against Glenbard West on Saturday, losing the opener 9-2 and winning the second game 5-2.

Dana Camp pitched a complete game in the win. Kailey Lyons and Kelli Tyler each had three hits.

East dropped DuPage Valley Conference games against Glenbard North (11-0) and Wheaton North (10-3) earlier this week.

AT swept a doubleheader against Proviso East on Wednesday to improve to 5-5 in the West Suburban Gold.

Wheaton North knocked off the Rams 25-19, 20-25, 25-14 on Tuesday.

Jack Peters won the 800-meter run and the 4x100 and 4x800 relays crossed the finish line in first at Hoffman Estates' Pete Reiff Invitational on May 9. Ben Sullivan took second in the shot put.

Jaavion Bradley and Ronald Duling tied for second in the high jump at Conant's Gummerson Cougar Classic meet.

Six different Blazers qualified for the state meet taking place today and Saturday at Hinsdale Central.

Marco Martinez earned a spot on high bar and parallel bars.

Marcus Rias (vault), Alfredo Torres (floor exercise), R.J. Infusino (still rings), Akash Patel (vault) and Daniel Baeza (vault) also earned spots at state.


Keawe Winstead won the pommel horse at the Glenbard West sectional to book his place at state.

Bret Golz (floor exercise, high bar), Corey Coman (pommel horse) and Colten Bach (vault) will join him.

Mike McGowan earned an at-large spot at the state meet on the vault.



The Warriors beat Walther Lutheran 3-2 to head into the West Suburban Gold tournament this weekend with some momentum.



Brooke Bimber and Janine Johnson teamed up to win the doubles draw at the Lyons Township sectional. They defeated teammates Sydney Planz and Maddie Arnold in the final.

Amanda Wendt was third in singles and Katherine Hinman took fourth to also qualify for state. The Warriors won the sectional.

Glenbard East

Seniors Katie Czervionke and Fatima Sakrani took fourth in doubles at the Lyons Township sectional to qualify for state.

14: Points scored by Glenbard East boys tennis to place third out of eight teams at the Fenton Invite on Saturday.

50.39: Winning time for Willowbrook senior Matt Burns in the 400-meter dash at the DuPage County Championships on May 9.

2: Home runs hit by Willowbrook softball, coming from Olivia Domin and Erin Sporer, in the Warriors' 11-1 win against Hinsdale South on Wednesday.

7: Hits by Addison Trail's Joe Kurucar in the Blazers' three-game baseball sweep of Proviso East.


BOYS TRACK: Glenbard East heads to Lake Park for the DuPage Valley Conference outdoor meet, beginning at 4:30 p.m. today.

SOFTBALL: Addison Trail travels to Willowbrook at 4:30 p.m. Monday for for a game that puts District 88 bragging rights on the line.

SOFTBALL: Montini hosts Wheaton Academy at 4:30 p.m. Monday in search of an undefeated conference season.
