LOMBARD – The 2014 Memorial Day "Click It or Ticket" campaign kicked off Friday in Lombard.

The purpose of the campaign, which will run through May 26, is to help save lives by cracking down on seat belt offenders through the Memorial Day weekend.

The Lombard Police Department is joining the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police and more than 500 local law enforcement agencies in Illinois to enforce seat belt laws. The department will conduct a roadside safety check in an undisclosed location from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. May 24.
