NORTH AURORA – The North Aurora Police Department continues to investigate a suspicious incident that was reported Tuesday afternoon.
At about 3:29 p.m. Tuesday, North Aurora police officers responded to White Oak Drive and Whitney Court for a suspicious incident.
According to a news release from the North Aurora police, officers learned that three juveniles were playing in a front yard when a vehicle stopped in the road, and the driver said to them, “Hey, you guys want to hang out?”
Neither the driver nor the passenger got out of the vehicle or made any attempt to approach the juveniles, the release stated. The driver of another vehicle behind the stopped car was honking its horn at the time of the incident, according to the release.
After the incident, the juveniles ran to a house and summoned an adult. The vehicle drove away southbound on White Oak. Officers checked the area thoroughly but were unable to locate the vehicle.
The vehicle was described as a newer car that is silver and a similar size to a Chevrolet Caprice.
The driver was described as a white or Hispanic male in his 60s with a gray hair “comb over” and wearing a red or orange flannel-type patterned shirt.
The passenger was described as a Hispanic male in his 50s wearing a baseball cap.
Approximately 20 minutes later, officers responded to the area of White Oak Drive and Messenger Circle for a report of the same or a similar car driving through the area again. The vehicle left the area, heading north on White Oak, the release stated.
Officers again checked the area but were unable to locate the car.
The incident remains under investigation.
