Kankakee man charged with burglary at Villa Park AT&T facility

VILLA PARK – A Kankakee man has been charged with burglary after allegedly taking more than $40,000 in computer and phone equipment from two AT&T distribution centers in DuPage County, including one in Villa Park.

Darryl Montique, 23, of the 800 block of North Evergreen Street, Kankakee, was charged with two counts of burglary, a Class 2 felony.

Following leads, DuPage County Sheriff's Police, working in conjunction with Villa Park detectives, recovered multiple multiple iPads, iPhones and Toughbook Computers that were taken from the facilities, according to a release issued Thursday by the sheriff's police press office.

Between 8:30 p.m. April 29 and 7:05 a.m. April 30, electronics were taken from AT&T, 631 W. Wildwood Ave. in Villa Park. Several windows were smashed to gain entry to the facility.

On Tuesday, a similar burglary was reported at an AT&T distribution center location in unincorporated Naperville. Montique was connected to both burglaries, according to the Sheriff's Police.

Montique is being held in the DuPage County Jail. His bond was set at $8,000.
