Soccer teams across the area are preparing for kickoff in the postseason, with the goal of getting to North Central College in Naperville for the state finals June 6 and 7. Here's the outlook for Glenbard South, Glenbard West, Wheaton North, Wheaton Warrenville South, and other area teams.

Glenbard South

Class: 2A

Regional: Riverside Brookfield

Sectional: St. Francis

Seed: No. 3

First match: 4:30 p.m. Wednesday vs. No. 14 Little Village

Outlook: The Raiders are in the midst of a successful 2014 season, having captured the Metro Suburban Conference title with a perfect run through the league.

Glenbard South was given the No. 3 seed in the St. Francis sectional with Nazareth and Hinsdale South tabbed as the top two seeds. Opening up the postseason with Little Village, the Raiders would most likely see familiar foe Riverside Brookfield on its home field in the regional final on May 24.

Glenbard West

Class: 3A

Regional: Geneva

Sectional: Conant

Seed: No. 11

First match: 6 p.m. Wednesday vs. No. 6 Glenbard North

Outlook: As has been the case in recent seasons, the Hilltoppers have been competitive this spring, though scoring goals has remained an issue.

Glenbard West was selected as the No. 11 seed in the Conant sectional and will play No. 6 Glenbard North in a regional semifinal. The winner would most likely see No. 3 Geneva in the regional final on May 24.

St. Francis

Class: 2A

Regional: De La Salle

Sectional: St. Francis

Seed: No. 5

First match: 6 p.m. Tuesday vs. No. 11 De La Salle

Outlook: Expected to be a bit of a rebuilding year after losing back-to-back outstanding senior classes, the Spartans have had quite a bit of success this spring.

With top scorers Taylor VanThournot and Andrea Ravlin leading the way, St. Francis posted an 8-4-1 record through 13 matches, including a 7-1 mark in the Suburban Christian Conference.

The squad, which is hosting the sectional, is the No. 5 seed and could see No. 4 Wheaton Academy in the regional final on May 24. The Spartans won in penalty kicks against the Warriors earlier in the spring.

West Chicago

Class: 3A

Regional: West Chicago

Sectional: Conant

Seed: No. 13

First match: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday vs. No. 4 St. Charles East

Outlook: An extremely young team this spring, the Wildcats are the No. 13 seed in the Conant sectional.

West Chicago is hosting a regional and will open up with No. 4 St. Charles East in a semifinal match. The winner faces either Wheaton Warrenville South or Schaumburg in the regional final on May 23.

Wheaton Academy

Class: 2A

Regional: De La Salle

Sectional: St. Francis

Seed: No. 4

First match: 4 p.m. Tuesday vs. No. 13 Gage Park

Outlook: The spring has been an up-and-down one for the Warriors, who were 9-10-1 heading into their regular season finale.

Wheaton Academy appears headed for a rematch against St. Francis in the regional final on May 23. The squad would need to get past Gage Park in its playoff opener first.

The Warriors and Spartans met back on April 29 with St. Francis prevailing in penalty kicks.

Wheaton North

Class: 3A

Regional: Rolling Meadows

Sectional: Conant

Seed: No. 10

First match: 7 p.m. Tuesday vs. No. 7 Bartlett

Outlook: Despite facing a challenging schedule with an inexperienced roster, the Falcons have improved throughout the spring and posted a record of 5-6-4 through 15 matches. Included in that was wins against Marist and Minooka in the PepsiCo Showdown and a victory over Downers Grove South in the Naperville Invitational.

Wheaton North will square off against Bartlett to open the postseason. The winner would likely see No. 2 seed Conant in the regional final on May 23.

Wheaton Warrenville South

Class: 3A

Regional: West Chicago

Sectional: Conant

Seed: No. 5

First match: 6:30 p.m Wednesday vs. No. 12 Schaumburg

Outlook: The Tigers will square off against Schaumburg to begin the playoffs. A win advances South to the regional final on May 23, where it would most likely see No. 4 St. Charles East.

St. Charles North, Conant and Geneva could await in the sectional.
