VILLA PARK – Willowbrook High School in Villa Park was one of 20 DuPage County schools last week to be awarded a campus safety grant from the Illinois Management Agency grant program.

DuPage High School District 88 – which is comprised of Willowbrook and Addison Trail High School– was awarded $50,000 from the Illinois School and Campus Safety Grant Program, which altogether awarded $1.6 million in grants aimed at improving school and student safety.

The schools will use the funding to make safety and security upgrades.

"If we have learned anything from tragic, violent school shootings, it is that protecting our children at school should be one of our highest priorities," said State Sen. Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park).
