North Aurora to fill vacancy on Village Board

Published: Tuesday, May 6, 2014 11:47 p.m. CST

NORTH AURORA – Village President Dale Berman said he plans to appoint someone to fill the newly created vacancy on the North Aurora Village Board at the next board meeting May 19.

Ryan Lambert recently resigned from the Village Board after he was named the new fire chief after the retirement of Steve Miller. Lambert was elected to the Village Board in April 2011, and his term expires in April 2015.

Berman said he will not be soliciting applications for the vacancy because he already has someone in mind to appoint to the spot. Berman did not name the individual, but he said the person has been involved in the village.

At Monday’s board meeting, village attorney Kevin Drendel said the appointment must be made within 60 days.

The appointment is made with the advice and consent of the board.

Lambert took over the reins of the fire department May 1 after getting the nod from the North Aurora Fire Board of Trustees. Before he was promoted, Lambert was the department’s fire marshal.

Lambert said he resigned from the board because being fire chief will demand his full attention.
