ELMHURST – Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and Edward Hospital in Naperville each earned an "A" rating in the Leapfrog Group's Spring 2014 Hospital Safety Score.
The score measures how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The score is compiled under the guidelines of experts on patient safety and administered by The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog, according to a hospital news release.
The Hospital Safety Score is free to the public and designed to give consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay. About 32 percent of the 2,500 U.S. hospitals that were assigned scores received an "A" grade, according to the release.
