BOLINGBROOK – The father of a 4-year-old boy killed early Sunday in a rollover crash has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.

Shannard M.L. Dyer, 29, of Romeoville, was released from the hospital Monday and charged shortly after.

Dyer was driving a 2012 Dodge Journey when he lost control around 2:03 a.m. Sunday southbound on Interstate 55 near Interstate 355, according to State police Sgt. Scott Angus.

The vehicle rolled over and came to a rest in the right lane. Taylor Dyer, 4, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two other children in the backseat suffered "critical, but non-life-threatening injuries," Angus said. They were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove and later transferred to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Dyer suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

Dyer, who was also charged with driving too fast for conditions, was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and bond was set at $750,000.
