Clarendon Hills boy scout rolls out the barrels for water conservation project

Published: Tuesday, May 6, 2014 1:37 p.m. CST

CLARENDON HILLS – With spring in the air, Alex Sivak's rain barrel Eagle Scout project moved forward April 26 at Prospect School with the distribution of 28 rain barrels to Clarendon Hills residents.

Sivak thanked all who are currently particpating for being a part of this major milestone in his Eagle Scout project, according to a news release from the Village of Clarendon Hills.

The next phase of the project invites residents to join local schools in painting and decorating a rain barrel, which will then be entered in the "Raincatchers of Clarendon Hills" contest.

Entries must be received by June 6 and the barrel voted "best-decorated" by the community will win a tumbling composter to further reduce one's carbon footprint.
