Geneva man pleads guilty to aggravated battery of a pregnant woman

GENEVA – A Geneva man, who has been charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, pleaded guilty Thursday to one of the charges in court, records show.

Herman Little, 28, of the 100 block of North Sixth Street, also was charged April 17, with two misdemeanor domestic battery charges in Geneva. The second felony and two misdemeanors will not be prosecuted if Little fulfills the terms of his probation by April 29, 2016, records show.

According to court records, Associate Kane County Judge Thomas Stanfa assessed him a fine of $1,570 and 24 months of probation, requiring Little to report to court services. Stanfa also sentenced him to 15 days in the Kane County Jail with credit for time served. Little has been held in the jail without bond since his arrest, records show.

According to police reports, Little and the victim, who was five months pregnant with his child, were arguing and went outside so as not to wake a daughter who was sleeping.

Little allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck and pinned her against the door. She freed herself and called 911. Little went to slap the phone away but missed and hit the victim in the neck, instead, according to police reports.

The felony charges each have a penalty of two to five years in prison and a fine up to $25,000. The misdemeanors carry a penalty of up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
