LA GRANGE – Lyons Township boys volleyball coach Joann Pyritz likes to get a lot of different players into the lineup and Wednesday night was an example of that.
The Lions sat Harvard-bound setter Marko Kostich against Hinsdale South on Wednesday and still came away with a 25-14, 25-21 victory.
Jake Bobrowski, also a college-bound setter himself headed to play for Dominican University next year, and Eric Mueller sharied duties in the Lions' 6-2 system.
"I like keeping everybody fresh throughout the season so that by the end of the season if we pick our strong lineup, great, but then everybody can respond to both setters," Pyritz said.
LT (15-3) jumped ahead 13-6 in game one and finished it with a kill from Michael Dean. The Hornets fought back in the second game to take a 21-20 lead, but the Lions turned it around by winning the next five points. Mueller served the closing run and had an ace on mach point.
The Lions next play Friday as part of the Lincoln-Way East Invitational. Bobrowski knows many of the players he will be facing in that tournament since he plays club ball for Frankfort-based Ultimate Volleyball Club.
"I'm excited to see a lot of my club guys," Bobrowski said. "A lot of top 10 teams [are there] so it should be a good tournament. I think we'll really see where we stand compared to some of the other teams."
