Carol Stream to host meeting on water main project

CAROL STREAM – The village of Carol Stream will host a public meeting to share the results of the Phase I Engineering Design Study for the Schmale Road Water Main Replacement Project.

Village consultant Thomas Engineering Group conducted a study for the replacement of the existing water main on Schmale Road between North Avenue
and Geneva Road and on St. Charles Road between Schmale Road and President
Street.

Detailed project exhibits will be on display at the public meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Village Board Room at Carol Stream Village Hall, 500 N. Gary Ave.

The exhibits will illustrate the proposed alignment of the new water main along Schmale and St. Charles roads. Representatives from the village of Carol Stream and Thomas
Engineering Group will answer questions and discuss specific issues pertaining to affected properties located within the construction area.

Those who believe their water service is provided by the village’s water main utility along Schmale or St. Charles roads between the project limits are encouraged to attend the meeting so the village may begin the easement acquisition process, a village news release stated.

In order to install a new water main outside of the DuPage County right-of-way, Carol Stream will need to obtain a signed utility easement from affected property owners, according to the news release. Construction plans cannot be finalized and construction cannot begin until all easements are acquired.

Written questions and comments may be submitted in advance of this meeting to Kevin VanDeWoestyne, project manager at Thomas Engineering Group, at 847-815-9500 or kevinv@thomas-engineering.com.
