West Chicago library to see brighter future, thanks to new lights

WEST CHICAGO – A new lighting project is underway at the West Chicago Public Library District to replace outdated lighting inside and outside the building with new lights, according to a library news release.

The lights are expected to brighten up the library, reduce repair and replacement costs and give the building a more contemporary look, the release stated.

Installation is scheduled to be completed by May 15, and it should only cause minor disruptions to patron services, according to the release.

The new lighting also is expected to result in substantial energy cost savings. Because of this, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has awarded the library with a grant of nearly $19,000 to cover some of the cost of the project, the release stated.

While sections of the library will be closed during installation, staff will be able to retrieve any materials temporarily inaccessible to patrons.
