Oak Brook firefighters and MDA celebrate annual 'Fill the Boot'

OAK BROOK – Members of the Oak Brook Fire Department Local 4646, along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will celebrate its 60-year partnership and kick-off the firefighters' annual "Fill the Boot" fundraising campaign to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the Oak Brook area.

Members of the Oak Brook Fire Department will fan out across the commity from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, May 9 and 16 at the intersection of 22nd Street and Spring Road collecting donations in boots.

Throughout the year, the association and firefighters are celebrating 60 years of proud partnership, joined together in the fight against life-threatening muscle disease, according to a news release from the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Funds raised during the Oak Brook Fill the Boot event will help support the association's programs of worldwide research, specialized health care services and day-to-day support, said the release.
